The American Brass Chamber Music Association Incorporated, a not-for-profit corporation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, was formed by the American Brass Quintet in 1972 with a mission to advance public knowledge of the art of brass chamber music; to re-establish and further the importance and appreciation of chamber music for brass instruments; to promote the performance of brass chamber music; to initiate the composition of new chamber works for brass; to encourage the research and editing of music of past centuries for brass; to further publication of brass chamber music; and to assist brass music artists and students wherever possible. Over the past thirty-five years, ABCMA Inc. has been instrumental in securing funds that have helped the ABQ with dozens of commissions, performances, and recordings of new works, performances and recordings of historical brass music in modern ABQ editions, ABQ mini-residencies worldwide, an ongoing fellowship program for brass chamber music at the Aspen Music Festival, and numerous other projects related to the promotion of brass chamber music.
