| Mini-Residencies Seminar/Class Topics Concert Events Comments Now entering its sixth decade, the American Brass Quintet continues to lead the field of serious brass chamber music. Adding to its long list of accomplishments—performances worldwide, a discography of over fifty recordings, over one hundred premieres, and residencies at the Juilliard School and Aspen Festival—the ABQ celebrated its 50th anniversary this past season with a gala performance at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, a brass chamber music forum at the Juilliard School with members of a dozen professional brass groups, and the release of State of the Art: The ABQ at 50—a special two cd set for Summit Records. The ABQ's commitment to brass chamber music was acknowledged as the cover story of Chamber Music magazine's November/December 2010 issue that traced the remarkable contributions the ABQ has made to chamber music in its first half century. Blending the ABQ's performance expertise with its longstanding reputation as brass mentors, ABQ mini-residencies over the last decade have been embraced at venues in the U.S. and abroad. Designed as two or three day events, the mini-residencies offer an intensive experience of musical training and interaction along with classes relating to today's most relevant topics for young musicians. Residencies culminate with a formal recital by the American Brass Quintet
