RESIDENCIES
The American Brass Quintet has served as Ensemble-in-Residence at The Juilliard School since 1987. As part of this residency, ABQ presents two recitals annually, while administering and coordinating the ABQ Seminar. Seminar classes address elements of performance, a variety of practical topics for discussion and visits by illustrious guest artists. Seminar students are organized into chamber ensembles, coached by members of ABQ, and perform at the end of each semester. Members of ABQ also serve on The Juilliard School Brass Faculty.

The American Brass Quintet has served as an Ensemble-in-Residence at the Aspen Music Festival and School since 1970. Since its inception in 2018, the American Brass Quintet Seminar @ Aspen has attracted pre-formed groups and individual applicants from across the globe.
This four-week seminar is an intense program dedicated to the development of a variety of powerful and pragmatic skills necessary for a career in music. Separate from the orchestral training program, but integrated to the Aspen Music Festival and School, the ABQS@A was created to be the world’s premier brass chamber music training program. Seminar students rehearse with their groups each day, attending coachings, lessons and classes with members of ABQ, all while having plenty of time to enjoy all that Aspen has to offer. With a variety of performance opportunities each week, the seminar concludes with a spotlight recital in Harris Hall.

Please visit the Aspen Music Festival website here for more information about the program, application deadlines, and how to apply.
In addition to this exclusive program, the ABQ is responsible for coordinating the school’s brass chamber music program for the orchestral students, as well as providing weekly coachings to student ensembles. A highlight of this collaboration is the renowned "Brass Bash," where all student ensembles have the opportunity to perform for the Aspen community. As part of the residency, ABQ also presents its own annual spotlight recital in Harris Hall

Launched in 2000, the ABQ Mini-Residency program was designed to create an intensive experience of musical interaction and instruction with ABQ members by providing participants with events relating to today’s most relevant topics for emerging artists. ABQ draws on the tradition of devotion to serious brass chamber music and expertise from worldwide performances, a vast discography and well over one hundred premieres, to create an individually tailored residency for colleges, high schools, or communities. Tremendously popular, this program has been embraced by venues throughout the United States and abroad. Mini-residencies culminate in the presentation of a formal recital by the American Brass Quintet.
